One of the millions of tiny insects

This is one of those tiny flying moth creatures, here staying still on a mint leaf looking curiously at me. I think the fuzzy tusk-like appendages are interesting. I wonder if it is a young insect or a mature one, and what is it?

  1. Hi, Susannah. Thanks for visiting Bug Safari! I'm always happy to find another bug-blogger, especially when you have such great photos. What camera do you use?

This little creature is indeed a moth, and a mature one of course, because otherwise it would still be a caterpillar! Some butterfly and moth species hold their front legs up close to their bodies like that. They use them mainly to grasp their partner when they mate.

  2. Thanks, Cindy! You know a lot about bugs. Thanks for your info. I call my camera a pocket camera. It is a Canon SD elph 1000.
